Terms of Use
These terms cover using this website and taking part in the Raman Young Scientist Initiative. Please read them with your student before participating.
Template — to be reviewed. These terms are a general, good-faith draft and are not legal advice. They should be reviewed by a qualified professional and finalised before launch.

Acceptance of these terms
By using this website or taking part in the Raman Young Scientist Initiative (“RYSI”, “the Raman Award”, “we”, “us”), you agree to these terms. Where a participant is a child, a parent, guardian or teacher accepts these terms on the student’s behalf.
Eligibility
The award is open to school students in grades 3 to 10 studying in India, across the Junior, Intermediate and Senior categories. Participation should be made or authorised by a parent, guardian or teacher. Full eligibility details are set out on the rules page, which forms part of these terms.
Acceptable use of the website
- Use this website only for lawful purposes connected with the programme.
- Do not attempt to disrupt, damage or gain unauthorised access to the site or its data.
- Do not submit false information or impersonate another person, school or student.
- Do not upload anything unlawful, harmful, or that infringes someone else’s rights.
Originality of submissions & intellectual property
Every project submitted must be the student’s own original work. Mentors, teachers and parents may guide and ensure safety, but the idea, the experiment and the write-up must belong to the student. Submissions must not copy or plagiarise others’ work.
Students (and their families) retain ownership of their projects. By entering, you grant RYSI permission to review the submission for the purposes of the award, and to display and reference winning and shortlisted projects — with appropriate credit — as part of celebrating and promoting the programme.
Code of conduct
- Treat fellow participants, students, families, volunteers, reviewers and staff with respect at all times.
- Communicate courteously. Abusive, threatening, discriminatory or unparliamentary language — whether in submissions, messages or at events — is not acceptable.
- Compete honestly and fairly. Report results truthfully, including those that did not go as expected.
- We may, at our discretion, disqualify an entry or remove a participant who breaches this code or these terms.
